Over the past 12 years, the Washington County Community Foundation has cumulatively awarded close to $14 million in unrestricted grants to Washington County charities through WCCF Gives. For some organizations, WCCF Gives has become their primary fundraising event of the year. Others have shared that participation has helped them attract new donors who first learned about their services through the WCCF Gives website.
The community-wide giving event begins on June 1 with check contributions and concludes on September 18, when credit card contributions are also accepted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. via www.wccfgives.org. This year, the Foundation is excited to introduce a new website platform powered by Bonterra, the leading giving day software in the industry, that will provide greater functionality and marketing opportunities for participating charities.
Another significant change this year is the prize structure. While there will not be a traditional bonus pool, charities will have the opportunity to win additional monetary prizes made possible by the generosity of sponsors and contributors. This new structure is designed to reward effort, engagement, and innovation, ensuring that every organization, regardless of size or donor network, has a chance to increase its impact. Details on the available prizes will be shared soon.
To ensure transparency, the Foundation is also providing details regarding credit card processing fees. Bonterra retains a 3.5% platform fee, and credit card transactions are subject to a 2.5% processing fee plus a $0.30 flat fee per transaction. These fees apply only to credit card donations. To help charities receive the maximum benefit, donors are encouraged to cover processing fees or explore alternative payment methods, such as IRA charitable transfers or checks.
Charities interested in participating in WCCF Gives must complete registration by Sunday, June 1, 2025. This deadline allows time for the necessary due diligence and ensures donors have access to check contribution forms. Eligible organizations must be local 501(c)(3) nonprofits that meet the program’s qualifications.
