Eighty Four, PA – The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is excited to announce the availability of Board Development Grants, designed to strengthen the governance and effectiveness of charitable organizations and nonprofits serving Washington County. These grants are part of the WCCF’s ongoing commitment to supporting and enhancing the impact of local nonprofits.

Grantees will contract with Nonprofit SideKick to facilitate a two-hour board development session to cover the duties, roles, responsibilities and rights of board members, including fundraising. Eligible grantees include any 501(c)(3) charity, that is not a "private foundation" as defined in section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, who files the Federal Form 990 annually, and who is headquartered in Washington County, PA. To apply, applicants should visit the Foundation’s website at www.wccf.net. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 31.

In 2024, six charities received $500 grants each to engage Nonprofit Sidekick for individually tailored board training sessions. While modest in the amount, the Board Development Grants appear to be having a substantial impact.
