The Ronald T. Miller, II Scholarship Fund was created in 2001 as a lasting tribute to Ronald T. Miller. The fund provides an annual scholarship to a Peters Township High School senior pursuing post-secondary study in the field of engineering.
Exemplary and popular were traits that made Ronald T. Miller an outstanding student at Peters Township High School. As part of his community service graduation project, Ron worked more than 100 hours at the school helping elementary school children. ʺHe liked to play dodge ball on the playground with them and make them laugh,ʺ his mother said. ʺHe was very outgoing and had a great smile. He was goal oriented and meticulous.ʺ
ʺHe taught me all about cars and how to play baseball,ʺ said his younger brother, Adam. ʺHe was very funny and always smiling.ʺ
In high school, Ron was active in baseball, golf, skiing, and media productions, all while maintaining a part time job at a retail golf shop. He graduated with honors from Peters Township High School in 2000.
Ron was continuing his education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he planned to study mechanical engineering. He was home during winter break when he suffered critical injuries in an automobile accident on December 22, 2000. He died New Yearʹs Day at Mercy Hospital.
