The Ronald M. Russell Fund was created by Ronald Russellʹs mother, Genevieve A. Sanpietro Russell in memory of her son, to benefit quality of life issues in Washington County.
Ronald M. Russell of Hickory was born on June 1, 1963, son of Genevieve Sanpietro Russell and the late W. Scott Russell.
He was a 1981 graduate of Fort Cherry High School where he played varsity football and baseball. After graduating from Wyoming Seminary in 1982 and attending Lafayette College and the University of Pittsburgh, he accepted a position with Finley Refractories of Washington. An avid outdoorsman, Ronʹs hobbies included fishing, hunting, alpine skiing and mountain biking.
Ron died at the age of 27 on Wednesday, September 19, 1990 in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, N.Y., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. His father, W. Scott Russell, also died in the accident.
