The Margaret Pitek Ciervo Scholarship Fund was created in 2000 by family and friends in memory of Margaret Ciervo. The fund provides scholarships to needy female Bethlehem-Center graduates.
Mrs. Margaret Pitek Ciervo, a 1949 graduate of Centerville High School, dedicated much of her life to being a devoted wife and mother. However, she did find time to work several years as a licensed practical nurse in State College, PA.
Later, when her husband, Arthur, retired from Penn State University, where he was the director of public relations, she joined him as a partner in a consulting firm, which specialized in college public relations. Together they established an annual conference on ʺHow Colleges and Universities Can Obtain National (and Regional) Publicity.ʺ It is one of the top conferences of its kind in the country.
Margaret was always active in charitable causes. She enjoyed serving others through delivering clothing and furniture to poor Harrisburg families, supporting programs at a homeless shelter, and helping Vietnamese families resettle in the United States.
Margaret was the daughter of Michael and Mary Ballon Pitek of Denbo, PA.
