The Kiwanis Club of Washington Scholarship Fund was created in 2009 by the Kiwanis Club to provide scholarships to graduating seniors of Western Area Career & Technology Center.
“Our Club has been providing scholarships for students at the Western Area Career & Technology Center for some time,” said Bill Nickles, Club Treasurer. “It has been very rewarding for us, as a Club, to help these students, who sometimes can be overlooked by other groups providing scholarships. By partnering with the Community Foundation, we have ensured that the awards will continue forever.”
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. In addition to providing scholarships, the Kiwanis Club is active in the Washington community. The Club hosts an annual Breakfast with Santa and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, provides volunteers at Pony Baseball World Series, operates a lemonade stand at the Main Street Farmers Market, and volunteers to clean up the I-70 intersection at Beau Street.
