The Judge David L. Gilmore Memorial FundĀ was created by Janice L. Gilmore and friends in memory of Judge David L. Gilmore.
Judge Gilmore was a lifelong resident and devoted public servant of the Washington County community. A graduate of Trinity High School, California University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest California), and Duquesne University School of Law, he was admired by judges and attorneys throughout Western Pennsylvania.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, was president of his fraternity at California University of Pennsylvania, and served as managing editor of Duquesne University School of Law.
Washington County will remember Judge Gilmore as a jurist of fairness and ability in the Court of Common Pleas. The legal community will remember him for his understated courtroom demeanor, subtle pointed questioning and dry humor. Prior to serving as Judge, he served for eight years as County Commissioner.
The fund will benefit quality of life issues in Washington County through grants to worthy charitable causes.
