The remaining trustees of the dissolving Christian Gathering Church created the Christian Gathering Church Fund in 2001 in memory of the Churchʹs founders, Samuel R. Polan and Foley A. Selvaggi. The fund will provide annual support to the Washington City Mission, continuing the churchʹs many years of generous support to this local charity.
Rick Futrell, the Mission’s Executive Director told the Observer Reporter, “The Christian Gathering has been a wonderful and faithful missionary partner with the mission for years. They have supported us with financial donations, through prayers and love.”
The church’s dissolution is a result of a declining congregation and the death of former pastor, Foley A. Selvaggi. Upon selling the church building, the trustees turned to the WCCF to keep the church and its founders perpetually involved in the Washington Community.
