The Charles Pappas, Sr. Scholarship Fund was created by a bequest in the last will and testament of Charles Pappas, Sr.
Charles, who died in 2001, was born February 8, 1925 in Burgettstown. After graduating from Burgettstown High School, he went into the family business of Frank Pappas & Sons Lumber Co. Charles also served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a charter member of the Burgettstown Lions Club and was past president of Burgettstown Area School Board. Although he had retired to Englewood, FL, his home town remained close to his heart ‐ so close, that he included provisions for it in his will.
The Charles Pappas, Sr. Scholarship Fund provides an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from his alma mater, Burgettstown High School. This was the first bequest received by the WCCF.
