The Berman Family Fund was created in 2000 by Martha Berman in memory of her husband, Dr. Bernard H. Berman, and her daughter, Dr. Linda S. Berman.
Bernard H. Berman, M.D. was born in Washington, PA. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College and from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He was Board certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, and practiced both in Washington from 1949 until his death in 1980.
He was a member of the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and was an active member of the Visiting Nurses Association and both the LeMoyne and Brownson House Boards.
Linda S. Berman, M.D. was born in Washington, PA and graduated from Washington High School. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She served a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Southern California. She, like her father, died in 1980.
The Berman Family Fund shall provide support for bereavement counseling at Hospice Care at The Washington Hospital.
