Armand Dellovade was born on January 24, 1938, in Avella, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Armand and Ann Dellovade. He graduated from Avella High School in 1957 and attended the University of Pittsburgh to study industrial engineering.
He attended the University of Pittsburgh from 1957 to 1960, but left college to begin his career as an ironworker for Plasteel Products. He worked on major projects through the Northeastern United States, eventually becoming the East Coast Superintendent. In 1969, he was promoted to General Superintendent of all construction for Plasteel, and served in this position until 1973.
After learning all of the different aspects of the business, he established his own company in 1973, A.C. Dellovade. His company became the country’s foremost metal roofing and siding contractor, installing specialty siding on projects such as Heinz Field, PNC Park, the assembly buildings at Cape Canaveral, and the MX Missile Space Shuttle Complex at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
In Washington County, Dellovade was previously active on myriad local projects. He was a major donor to the Frank Sarris Public Library and has supported Try-Again Homes, Community Action Southwest, Washington Hospital Foundation, Pathways of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and numerous local youth sports teams.
