The Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy

Mission

The Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy seeks to enrich the lives of local youth by providing quality education in the performing arts through affordable classes and production opportunities.

Programs and Services

  • The Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy (MVPAA) seeks to enrich the lives of local youth by providing quality education in the performing arts through affordable classes and production opportunities.
  • For over 15 years, the MVPAA has offered weekly classes in the performing arts during the academic year (September-April) and one-week or two-week long programs that expose students to the performing arts and/or design and technical theatre.
  • Youth who experience theatre education tend to develop empathy, self-confidence, and an awareness of social and civic responsibility. Theatre teaches creativity, confidence, collaboration, focus, self-discipline, and accountability.
  • Our academic year curriculum includes courses in acting, voice, dance, and stresses the importance of ensemble. Our summer programming includes work in acting, voice, dance, and all aspects of technical theatre in an intensive environment that culminates in an end-of-program performance.
  • Until we find our permanent home, the MVPAA is currently housed in Steele Hall on the campus of PennWest California,
  • The Mon Valley Performing Arts Academy is a 501(c)(3) organization with the goal of providing no or low cost arts education to youth (adults, too) in the Mon Valley.
